Swimming
Open water spots, pool options, and sea conditions in Jávea
The Mediterranean at Jávea is sheltered and significantly calmer than Atlantic alternatives. The bay faces south-east and is protected by both headlands — this keeps conditions manageable even when there’s wind elsewhere on the coast.
Open water spots
Playa Arenal — the main beach bay. Sandy bottom, shallow entry, good for mass-start practice and easy OW sessions. Can get choppy when wind comes from the south but is generally the most accessible spot.
Playa Grava — stone beach with a small sandy section. Deep water close to shore, crystal clear especially in the mornings before any boat traffic. Better for distance swimming than La Arenal. Entry is less straightforward (stones underfoot) but the water quality and visibility are noticeably better.
Sea temperature
